“Casals says music fills him with the wonder of life
and the ‘incredible marvel’ of being a human. Ives says it expands his
mind and challenges him to be a true individual. Bernstein says it is
enriching and ennobling. To me, that sounds like a good cause for making
music and the arts an integral part of every child’s education. Studying
music and the arts elevates children’s education, expands students’
horizons, and teaches them to appreciate the wonder of life.”
– U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley, July 1999.

2008-2009
We have received support from many individuals and area
businesses to help make this year's band program successful. We would
like to take this opportunity to thank:
Sonic Drive-In
Our
local Sonic Drive-In manager, Jeff Burns, has been overwhelmingly
generous to our organization. We would like to thank him for sponsoring
our concession stands and for donating Coupon Cards for our fundraising
efforts. Please frequent his drive-ins often!
Food City
Food City donated $250 in Robert Lowry's name. Thank you to Food
City and Robert Lowry!
Marilyn and Donald Spoon
Many, many thanks to Marilyn and Donald Spoon for purchasing new
t-shirts for every band member. Doesn't the band look sharp this year?!
State Farm Foundation
The State Farm Foundation donated $500 to the
band program in Jim Pope's name. This is in recognition of Jim working
over 40 volunteer hours for the band. Thank you Jim!
Wal-Mart
The past two years Wal-Mart has donated over $2000. Last year Robert
Lowry applied for, and received, what they call a "Matching Grant". They
match up to $1000 of a fund raiser. He showed
the income from the concession stands from one football game.
Wal-Mart also donated $500 from a grant they call the
Volunteerism grant. If you volunteer 25 hours within the prior six months they will give $250.
You could get this twice a year.
Derek Cooze, MD
Dr. Cooze donated $100 to the band program. Thank you, Dr. Cooze. Thank
you to Cindy Rice, an employee of Dr. Cooze, for asking her employer to
support our band program.
Anonymous
Thank you to our donors who choose not to be recognized. We have
received $2000 this year from our friends.
As you can see, many individuals have asked their
employers to support the band program. We have request forms available
for anyone who would like to turn one in to their employer or a local
business. Please contact the Band Boosters if you or your
company or organization are able to help out the band program.
Please remember to patronize the area businesses to
thank them for their generosity.

Thank You to Our Band Families
The Band Boosters put out requests for things the band
needs/wants/desires on a regular basis. And someone ALWAYS comes
through! Here are just a few of the latest things we asked for and
received:
Band Camp
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Tim Hangartner, Lisa and
Bill Harris, Sharon McAnear, Jim Pope, Marilyn Spoon, and Paula Waldron
for giving a week of their time to chaperone our band students.
It is a comfort to band parents to have these adults at camp. We know
that they will keep our students safe.
Uniform Hemming/Pinning and T-Shirt Fittings
Many people came to our aid. Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Lisa
Harris, Connie Pope, Paula Waldron...and ?
Who did we miss?
